A Beautiful Storm
by Diyana Gonzalez
The skies darken as clouds roll in,
Blocking out the light
And making the world pitch-black.
The beginning of nature's wrath.
Thunder rumbles,
Starting suddenly but lingering.
A rumbling that shakes the earth,
Like a deep, reverberating bass drum beat.
The rain starts out as a light pitter-patter
But quickly grows
To a heavy, steady rhythm.
Its rhythm so soothing and relaxing.
Just for an instant,
Lightning splits the sky
And blinds you with a unexpected white streak.
The remainder of its lights dancing along the stormy sky.
All these elements come together,
Like one orchestra of harmony,
Filled with rhythms and emotions,
To create a beautiful storm.

Fear
Fear
by Diyana Gonzalez
I stand, the night closing around me,
Staring into the dark abyss of black,
My breath stiffens, my knees become
weak,
The path behind me closes, there’s no
turning back.
Stranded in a void of nothingness,
Nowhere to hide,
Nowhere to run,
It traps me and grabs me, chaining me
from all sides.
Panic rises,
I shut my eyes,
I feel the restraints tighten,
Hoping someone would hear my cries.
A faint light glimmers,
Hope begins to dwell within me,
I try to reach it, to grasp it,
Wanting to get out, needing to flee.
I struggle against the bonds that held
me,
The light begins to flicker,
Pulling away from the darkness,
The glow becomes brighter, and
brighter.
The light soon surrounds me,
I feel safe, I feel warm,
My vision clears,
Soon, I am back home.
